Job Summary

We are hiring an Accountant (Finance & Compliance) to manage day-to-day accounting operations, support statutory compliance (GST/TDS), handle payroll and invoicing, perform bank reconciliations, track cash flow, and provide financial reporting and analysis to support business growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Accounting operations & records

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities and ensure proper documentation (vouchers, receipts, invoices, approvals, supporting).
  • Maintain accurate books of accounts: journal entries, ledgers, expense booking, vendor/customer accounting, and general record hygiene.
  • Ensure appropriate filing/archiving of documentation (physical and digital) for audit and internal review.

2. Invoicing, billing, and collections support

  • Support client invoicing and billing processes; ensure invoice completeness and accuracy.
  • Track receivables, ageing, and follow-ups with internal stakeholders to reduce outstanding amounts.
  • Provide revenue/collection summaries and flags (high-risk clients, overdue trends) to management.

3. Bank, cash, and reconciliations

  • Reconcile bank statements, monitor transactions, and investigate mismatches promptly.
  • Track cash flow and working capital needs; highlight shortfalls and upcoming commitments.
  • Maintain payment schedules and support vendor payment processing as per approval workflow.

4. Payroll support & employee reimbursements

  • Assist in processing employee payroll in co-ordination with HR; maintain salary records, reimbursements, and deductions. (Your current JD emphasises this; Webguruz careers posting also includes payroll handling.)
  • Maintain monthly payroll support documentation (attendance inputs, reimbursements, proof, approvals).

5. GST, TDS, and statutory compliance co-ordination

  • Support GST compliance including preparation of outward supply details and summary return workflows (e.g., GSTR-1 outward supplies; GSTR-3B summary return), and maintain supporting workings.
  • Support TDS statement preparation and processes, using prescribed utilities/workflows where applicable (e-TDS/e-TCS statements include forms such as 24Q/26Q/27Q/27EQ).
  • Co-ordinate with external CA/tax consultants on filings, assessments, and responses; ensure internal data readiness and documentation completeness.

6. Reporting, analysis, and forecasting support

  • Provide periodic reports and financial summaries (P&L snapshots, expense analysis, cash-flow summaries) and highlight variances/risks.
  • Support management in evaluating financial health, profitability, and upcoming financial needs (explicitly requested in your latest internal JD).
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting support (at minimum: expense tracking vs budget; at senior levels: forecasts, scenario notes).

7. Controls, confidentiality, and continuous improvement

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies; keep internal controls and approvals intact.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, and vendor/customer information.
  • Identify process gaps and propose improvements (templates, checklists, automation, SOPs).

Accounting Tools Knowledge Required:

  • Tally / equivalent accounting software
  • Spreadsheets: Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets (for reconciliation, MIS, payroll support)
  • Compliance ecosystems (as applicable): GST portal workflows for returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B); TDS utilities/workflows for e-statements (24Q/26Q/27Q/27EQ)

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines (month-end close + compliance + payroll).
  • Communication and stakeholder co-ordination (HR, management, vendors, internal teams).
  • High integrity and confidentiality, especially for payroll and vendor/customer data.

Compliance / industry specifics (India):

  • GST returns: GSTR-1 covers outward supplies; GSTR-3B is a required return for normal and casual taxpayers (filed via GST portal flows).
  • TDS statements: e-TDS/e-TCS statements can include forms 24Q/26Q/27Q/27EQ and are prepared/validated using prescribed utilities/workflows.
  • Corporate filings support: Companies are required to file financial statements with the Registrar within required timelines; AOC-4 is part of that filing ecosystem (AOC-4 guidance references Companies Act requirements and filing expectations)
